“Clash of the Red Rangers” To Premiere Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Article By: Alex J. Rosolowsky

Viacom has put out a press release stating that “Clash of the Red Rangers,” will premiere on Saturday, November 26, 2011. This information comes as a bit of a surprise, given that previous information had suggested this episode wouldn’t be shown until next year.

“Clash of the Red Rangers,” the Power Rangers Samurai/Power Rangers RPM team–up has been a source of contention among fans, with information suggesting that previous cast members may not have actually been able to return, leading some to speculate about the way this episode will be handled.

“Jungle Fury” to Join “Samurai” on Nicktoons

Article By: Alex J. Rosolowsky

Rangerboard reports that Power Rangers Jungle Fury will be the first classic season to join Power Rangers Samurai on Nicktoons. Power Rangers Jungle Fury will make its Nicktoons debut on November 18, 2011 in the form of a 48–hour marathon. “Jungle Fury” consists of 32 half hour episodes, or 16 hours worth of footage total when commercials are included; a 48–hour marathon would thus consist of each episode being cablecast three times over the course of two days.

Although The Power Rangers Samurai Times generally does not cover news that doesn’t pertain to “Samurai,” (or “Super Samurai,”) we have and will continue to make exceptions for “big news” pertaining to Power Rangers as a whole. The Nicktoons reruns were initially scheduled to begin in October 2010, but that never happened, and the “Jungle Fury” marathon is the first evidence we have seen of the Nicktoons reruns actually materializing.

This October “Power Rangers Samurai” Launches New Episodes on Nickelodeon

Article By: Alex J. Rosolowsky

Today, Saban Brands officially began announcing that new episodes of Power Rangers Samurai would begin on October 1, 2011. Earlier today, an official Saban Brands spokesperson posted the following quote on Rangerboard, Twitter, and other social media outlets.

Are you ready for new episodes? Power Rangers Samurai returns with new episodes Saturday Oct. 1st at 12n/11c only on Nickelodeon!

The comment went on to note that new episodes would continue to premiere for five consecutive weeks. Furthermore, tentative titles for four of those five episodes were previously reported by Power Rangers On–Air Central, with the fifth episode still unnamed. At this point in time, it’s also worth pointing out that there are five Saturdays in the month of October this year, which may have played a role in Nickelodeon’s scheduling decision. Additionally, it should be noted that once the five new episodes are shown, there will only be 19 new episodes of Power Rangers Samurai left; 22 (new episodes) if the total episode count is 43.

Scheduling Switches, International Airdates, and Tentative Titles, Oh My!

Article By: Alex J. Rosolowsky

Power Rangers On-Air Central now confirms that Nickelodeon has indeed switched up their schedules. New episodes will air on Saturdays at noon now, and reruns will be shown on Sundays at noon. Although this was initially believed to be a one–time thing for Saturday April 30, 2011, it now appears to be a permanent change to the schedule.

I would also like to take this time to apologize for an error. Initially, we reported that the episode on the 30th would be Room For One More, when it was actually Unexpected Arrival. The staff of The Power Rangers Samurai Times apologizes for this error. Room For One More will premiere this Saturday, per the schedule change noted above, so adjust your recording device of choice accordingly, if you haven’t done so already.

There is also scheduling information for our international readers to report on today. The official Power Rangers website, has been updated with international scheduling information for Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. Canadian viewers can catch Power Rangers Samurai every week on Nick Canada. Viewers in the UK can catch the premiere on May 7, 2011. New episodes will be shown Saturdays at 9:30A.M., with encore presentations on Sundays at 9:30A.M. and 4:30P.M. Additional episodes will be shown at 9:00A.M. on weekdays during school half terms. Furthermore, French viewers will be able to watch Power Rangers Samurai on Canal J “multiple times a week.” No French premiere date has been provided yet.

Finally, in addition to the scheduling information, we may have seen the announcement of the first Power Rangers Samurai episode to have a tentative, or “working title” that differs from the final title of the episode. Working titles are non-final titles given to movies, TV shows, and even episodes of TV shows while they are in production until a final title is agreed upon. The 14th episode of Power Rangers Samurai has been referred to as both Team Spirit, and Team Support, and it’s likely that one of those two titles was the working title for the episode. This wouldn’t be the first time a Power Rangers episode has had a final title that differed from the working title; Power Rangers Ninja Storm had several episodes with title changes, including Snip It, Snip It Good, and Nowhere to Grow. Likewise, one title that was considered for the series Power Rangers Time Force was Power Rangers Time Warp. This likely won’t effect the actual episode, but it’s worth noting, because so far every title that has been announced for Samurai has ultimately been the final title.

Those of you who visited this site last night might have noticed that the Schedule tab at the top of the site was missing for a short period of time. I’m please to announce that at long last, the Schedule … Continue reading

All-New Series from Saban Brands Features New Cast and Amped-Up Special Effects

LOS ANGELES—(PRNEWSWIRE)—Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, introduces a new generation of kids to the legendary Power Rangers franchise with the prime-time premiere of Power Rangers Samurai, on Monday, February 7, at 8:00 P.M. (EST/PST).   Combining comedy with action-filled storylines, the all-new half-hour series features a new cast of Rangers and never-before-seen villains, as well as high-octane action, martial arts and advanced special effects.  From SCG Power Rangers LLC, an affiliate of Saban Brands, the long-running hit kids’ TV phenomenon, now heading into its 19th season, is helmed by Haim Saban, who created and produced the original “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” series in 1993.  Following the premiere, the show will air regularly Sundays at Noon (EST/PST) on Nickelodeon, with encores Saturdays at Noon on Nickelodeon and Fridays from 8:00—9:00 P.M. (EST) on Nicktoons.

“We are very excited to introduce this fun and iconic property, which has spanned over two decades, to a whole new generation of kids,” said Pete Danielsen, Executive Vice President, Programming, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. “This new season of Power Ranger Samurai will feature all new heroes, villains and special effects while keeping the core messages of friendship, teamwork and empowerment that the series has always exhibited.”

“We are so excited to ring in a new era of Power Rangers, the world’s most successful kids action series,  and Nickelodeon is the perfect place to introduce these iconic heroes to a whole new generation of fans,” said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands.

Power Rangers Samurai follows a new generation of five Rangers who must master the ancient Samurai Symbols of Power which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest and Earth.  Under the guidance of their all-knowing Samurai mentor, Ji, and with the aid of their devoted animal Zords (Lion, Dragon, Ape, Turtle and Bear), they battle to save Earth from the dark forces of the Netherworld led by the evil Master Xandred.

The Samurai Power Rangers are: Jayden (Alex Heartman), the Red Ranger and the team’s leader; Mia (Erika Fong), the Pink Ranger who is the confident and caring “big sister” of the Rangers; Kevin (Najee De-Tiege), the Blue Ranger, is a great swordsman who lives by the code of the Rangers; Emily (Brittany Pirtle), the Yellow Ranger, is the youngest but most optimistic of the group; and Mike (Hector David), the Green Ranger, who is a bit of a rebel and would rather be destroying video monsters than real ones.

In the action-packed premiere episode, “The Team Unites,” after Mike can’t anticipate an attack like Kevin and Jayden, he grows frustrated and takes a break from training to meet up with old friends.  But when a long-armed monster named Rofer attacks, Mike unsuccessfully attempts to fight him alone, and his friends are injured.  Jayden and Mentor explain the hard truth that Samurai Rangers must stay away from family and friends in order to protect them from the dangers that are involved with being a Ranger.  Inspired, Mike begins to take his role and training as a Samurai Ranger more seriously.  With Jayden’s help, Mike uses his training and creativity to anticipate Rofer’s moves and defeats him.

The premiere of Power Rangers Samurai will simulcast in full on Nick Mobile, and post-premiere, a dedicated show category will be available through Nickelodeon’s video-on-demand partners.  In support of the show launch, will feature a new Power Rangers Samurai-themed Game of the Week beginning Thursday, Feb. 3, where players battle villains as his or her favorite Power Ranger.  The site will also include a dedicated show page featuring videos, photo galleries, a quiz, a villain flipbook, message boards, as well as cast and character bios.

Produced by Saban Brands LLC and Power Rangers Productions Ltd, Power Rangers Samurai is Executive Produced by Jonathan Tzachor (from the original series).  Following its introduction in 1993, Power Rangers quickly became the most watched children’s television program in the United States.  Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, responsibility and helping others by following the adventures of a group of ordinary young people who “morphed” into superheroes, the series was seen in more than 60 countries and translated into numerous languages.  It rose to rank as the #1 boys brand in the world from 1993-97, based on toy sales and television ratings.  To date, Power Rangers licensed products and promotions have generated well over $5 billion in retail sales worldwide.  For more information go to
