GoNintendo reports that the Samurai Rangers will appear at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3 this week. Namco Bandai Games America Inc. sent out a press release last week, which reads in part as follows:
NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. is excited to reveal that all five Power Rangers Samurai (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Pink) will be making a special appearance at this year’s E3 on Thursday, June 9 from 11am-3pm at the NAMCO BANDAI booth in South Hall #2047 in honor of the upcoming Power Rangers Samurai games set to be formally announced next week during E3!
Although Saban Brands had mentioned games as part of their plans for the Power Rangers brand, none have been announced or released for consoles yet. The current offerings for Power Rangers Samurai games consist of web-based games running in Adobe Flash, as well as an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad game available through the App Store. More information about the console games will obviously be made public at E3.
This year’s E3 will take place between June 7–9, at the Los Angles Convention Center. For those who are unfamiliar with the event, E3 is the video game industry’s largest trade show, and functions in a similar manner to NAB, the trade show for broadcasters, and CES, the trade show for consumer electronics manufacturers. Unlike most years, each major console manufacturer is planning something different for this year’s E3: Nintendo intends to announce the successor to the Wii, Sony intends to reassure customers that the Playstation Network is once again secure, and Microsoft intends to focus on new games for the XBox 360. As a result, it’s been said that this years E3 will be focused around the “core” gamer, rather then the casual one. Although Apple Inc. has attended E3 in the past, they will not be attending E3 in 2011; of course, this is likely due to the fact that they’ll be holding their own trade show, the Worldwide Developer’s Conference from June 6–10 at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco.
Later this month, Saban Brands will also make an appearance at Licensing International Expo 2011, which will be held from June 14–16 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
